Mrs. Klena's Kindergarten

Welcome to my Kindergarten class and a brand new school year.  This is my 19th year teaching here at Mayfield Elementary School.  I have taught both Kindergarten and First Grade.  This is my favorite age level and I love to watch how the children learn and grow during this important year in school.  I hope your children will enjoy my classroom as much as I know I will enjoy teaching them.

     My philosophy is to create a safe and nurturing environment where your child will have fun learning and making friends. We will learn to respect ourselves and each other and use proper manners so that everyone has a comfortable place to learn and play.

Please be sure your child has sneakers on gym days and has returned their library book either before or on each Monday.

8:35-8:50  Arrival

9:00-9:45  Whole Group Language Arts

9:50-10:30  Special Area Classes

10:40  Snack

11:00-12:00  Reading Groups / Center Activities / Writing

12:00-12:15  Playtime

12:20-12:50  Lunch

1:00-1:30  Math

1:40-2:00  Rest Time

2:20-2:50  Recess

3:00  Dismissal

Please remember that the children go out for recess this time of year everyday unless it is rainning.  Please be sure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather.

Snack Time:

Please be sure to watch for each monthly snack calendar to come home with the day your child is responsible to provide snack for the class.  We currently have 19 students.  Please also remember that I am asking for only  STORE BOUGHT items this year due to the concern of germs that is currently a very important issue.  Items you may consider are, crackers, cookies, granola bars, fruit snacks, dry cereal in individual bags, pretzels, etc.

Also, your child is welcome to bring their own water or juice box if they like or they may use our classroom drinking fountain.
