Course Descriptions
9th Grade Global History and Geography Replacement
This is an introductory course to the world, its geography and the history of ancient civilizations. Students will study world maps and the development of these ancient peoples and cultures. Students are expected to learn the whole of the class presentations. In addition, there will be chapter tests, mid-term and final exams. A research report and several thematic and DBQ essays will be written by the students.
10th Grade Global History and Geography Replacement
Beginning with The Age of Enlightenment, students will cover European, African, Asian and South American Histories from the 5th century to the present. The textbook will cover the content of the class presentations. Chapter tests, mid-term and final examinations will be given. Students will write four thematic essays and DBQ essays relating to material covered in textbook chapters. This course will end with the NYS Regents Exam to be given in June 2008. English 9 Replacement
A modified version of English 9 regular class course. Literature covered is Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. Novels from the regular 9th grade curriculum which include: To Kill A Mockingbird, Narnia, Flight 116 is Down, Animal Farm and Snowbound. Plays include Twelve Angry Men and The Glass Managerie.
Resource Room
This class is required of all special education students. The purpose of the class is for review, reteaching and modification of regular class and replacement class material. Students have a teacher available to review, further instruct and simplify content and information. Students are also able to recieve more time to complete regular tests and examinations as prescribed in the IEP.
